On The River 2013
PARTYING FOR A CAUSE
On the River is the culmination of a conversation between a couple guys who wanted to host an outdoor summer bash for their friends. As the vision grew, these guys teamed up with the Young Professionals Against Poverty to organize a party to benefit the Center for the Homeless. The very first On The River was held in 2008.
This year, On the River is being held outdoors in downtown South Bend on Colfax Avenue at the St. Joseph River across from the Commerce Center. Click here to download the site plan to put the location into perspective. Click here for an OTR parking map, or visit DTSB Parking for other nearby parking options.
The event will be from 6:00PM – 11:00PM on Friday, August 2 and from 10:00AM – 11:00PM on Saturday, August 3. Check out the tickets page for cost of admission. Practically the entire party site will be comprised of sand and decorated accordingly, giving the event that authentic beach feel – so don’t forget your sandals & Hawaiian shirts!
A special thanks goes out to all of the committee members who have and will put many hours into planning this great event. This event would not be possible without the support of many families, friends, acquaintances, colleagues and businesses. Please support our sponsors!
CHANGING THE LANDSCAPE OF OUR COMMUNITY
On the River 2008 transformed a vacant city lot into a full-fledged beach, literally changing the landscape of downtown South Bend for one day. As a result, this event figuratively changed the landscape of the town on a greater scale. By helping to raise funds and awareness for the Center for the Homeless, the event helped provide the housing and food, programming and counseling services for 200 vulnerable men, women and children.
On the River is more than just a summer bash – it is a tool to support the mission of the Center to break the cycle of homelessness. Please consider joining our efforts to continue to change the landscape of South Bend.
