  • Michigan hunters achieve management objectives during hunting seasons

    Michigan elk hunters harvested 78 elk during the 2014 elk hunting season. A news release from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources said the hunt helped with elk management on public and private land. Wildlife biologist Jennifer Kleitch said the harvest helps the DNR to track the health of the elk herd and other wildlife information. It also helps control the population.
