Dog Dilemma

I have the best dog ever! A pure breed Cocker Spaniel (Vern) that I got from the Humane Society. I call him my Peace Lovin' Jesus Dog! He's so sweet, smart and very friendly! The dilemma is that a friend of mine called from Kentucky and said a woman she worked with had a pure breed female cocker spaniel, about 5 months old, that she was going to take to the humane society because she couldn't handle it. She asked me if I would take it and I said I would.

At first I was excited, Vern was going to get a little sister and I was going to name her Velma! Then, I cleaned my house from top to botton this weekend and realized how much of a mess Vern made! And how much of a mama's dog he was! NOW THERE'S GOING TO BE 2!?!?! What was I thinking! Yes, they would be cute! Yes, they would have fun together! But I have to clean up! And then I remembered that I travel a lot with Vern. What would it be like to travel with 2! But I made a commitment!

Now........I haven't heard back from her about the dog! So I talked myself into getting another dog, then I talked myself out of it being a good idea, then I got used to the idea and I want it! Where is it?!?!? And if the woman decides she wants to keep the dog, what do I do?!! I've talked myself into and out of it so many times, I don't know what to do! If this falls through, do I go ahead and get another dog from someone else? ARGH! THIS IS WHY I DON'T HAVE CHILDREN!
