    South Bend Common Councilman Henry Davis Jr. is taking a temporary leave of absence from his Council duties. In a letter to Council President Oliver Davis, Henry Davis Jr. said he is taking a medical leave to concentrate on his health. He said he is unable to comment on his July 19 arrest for Operating While Intoxicated, under the advisement of legal council.

    The American Red Cross is running low on blood and it's close to becoming a "Emergency Situation"The organization is blaming the month of July for low numbers since the fourth of July was on a Friday.They say it cut the number of blood drives because volunteers went on vacation."We typically see a dip in the summertime, but we are now currently facing an eight percent shortfall in our blood donation so we are helping people will come out and give," Anne Marie Borrego, American Red Cross, said.
