Become A Mentor

Jan 11th, 2011

In honor of National Mentoring Month the South Bend Community School Corporation is working to get more volunteers to mentor students.

Coordinator of Student Programs Naomi Adams says the school corporation has between 100 and 150 mentees on a wait list for a mentor.  Most of the students are in primary and intermediate education, but a few students are in high school.

Mentoring a student can take as little as an hour a week.  Adams says mentors usually go to the school and read or play games with their mentees.

If you want to mentor a student you can contact Adams at 283-8044 or go to the training session at the end of this month.

The training is Monday January 31 at 5:30pm.  It is being held at the Cressey and Everett offices in South Bend.
