  • UPDATE: Formal Attempted Murder charges filed against suspects in Wednesday night shooting in South Bend

    Attempted Murder charges have been formally filed against both suspects from a Wednesday night shooting that injured a man in South Bend. Isaiah Samelton, 19, and Juwan Jonems, 18 are both charged with a count each of Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery after police say they opened fire at a Phillips 66 gas station on the 3400 block of W. Western Ave.

  • South Bend Councilwoman sends letter to Deputy Mayor Neal on City Park Police

    South Bend Common Councilwoman Valerie Schey sent a letter to Deputy Mayor Mark Neal saying she has been told police were stripped of their guns and emergency vehicles within the past month.She says this issue has her very concerned.In the letter she also comments, with the recent spike in violent crime in the city, this restriction may pose a problem.FOX28 will be speaking with Councilwoman Schey and will have more tonight at 10.

  • No criminal charges filed for Henry Davis Sr.

    Henry Davis Sr. will receive no criminal charges.This comes after South Bend Common Council member Derek Dieter filed a police report. It was in reference to Davis Sr.'s alleged conduct during a meeting of the Rules Committee on June 9th.The report was reviewed by a deputy prosecuting attorney. At the conclusion of the review it was determined that Davis Sr.'s actions did not rise to the level of the crime of intimidation.

  • UPDATE: South Bend 4-month-old in critical condition, father arrested

    South Bend Police say a 4-month-old girl is in critical condition and on life support at an area hospital, following a 911 call saying the child was not breathing. It happened at 3:00 pm on the 1400 block of E. Dubail St. We're told South Bend officers and South Bend Fire Department medics were sent to the home immediately. The girl's father, Bryan Alexander Michel, 22, was arrested and preliminarily charged with Neglect of a Dependent
