  • Learn about South Bend architecture on a guided tour

    All summer Downtown South Bend, Inc. is offering the chance to learn more about South Bend architecture with guided walking tours.  Tours take place in the evening from 5pm to 6:30pm. Guides will point out landmarks and talk about their historical evolution.  Tours take place June Third, July 1st, August 5th, and September 2nd.  Call Kylie Carter at 574-282-1110 for more information. 

  • Try canoeing at night

    St. Joseph County Parks are offering an evening canoe paddle experience throughout June.  $15 buys you  a canoe for two hours in the evening. You can choose a 5, 6, or 7pm departure for a 4 mile canoe trip.  Parks staff does not recommend the trip for children three and under.  Contact Andrea Edholm at 574-654-3155 for more information. 

  • Dozens of Concord students and teachers line up for tickets to see President Obama

    The rainy forecast is not dampening the spirits of those folks who chose to spend their Memorial Day holiday waiting in line. They were waiting for tickets to see the President when he comes to town Wednesday.  We can expect people lining up outside the Concord High School gym Tuesday morning. There will be a small number of tickets available there from 8am to 10 am for the President's only public event. Some people already got a head start on getting those tickets.

  • Zoo safety rules

    (CNN)--In the wake of the fatal shooting of the Cincinnati Zoo's male lowland gorilla over the weekend to save the life of a toddler who had fallen into its enclosure, experts are reminding zoo-goers of basic safety rules. The Memorial Weekend incident prompted an outcry from groups who believed the zoo should have been able to tranquilize 17-year-old Western lowland gorilla Harambe and are protesting the rare animal's death.
