  • 3rd Annual Red Kettle Ring-Off raises money for Salvation Army to help families in need

    It was a showdown between Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood and South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, but it had nothing to do with politics. It was all part of the 3rd Annual Red Kettle Ring-Off which collects donations that help the Salvation Army reach families in need.The Red Kettle Ring-Off is happening from 6:30am-6:30pm throughout South Bend and Mishawaka. 

  • Elkhart County Superintendents release statement about 2015 ISTEP+ results

    Monday, Elkhart County Public School Superintendents released a scathing message about the preliminary results of the 2014-2015 ISTEP results. The statement says ,"we are finding that the percentage of students passing the exam has dropped as a result of Indiana's botched system of standardized testing." 

  • St. Joseph County can now receive 9-1-1 texts

    St. Joseph County 9-1-1 dispatchers can now receive and respond to text messages. The St. Joseph County Public Safety Communications Consortium announced in a release Tuesday that they are capable of receiving text-to-911 calls effective immediately. County officials told FOX28 back in February that they thought it would take a year or more to begin to receive texts. Now that they are active, there are only nine counties in Indiana that are not yet capable of receive 9-1-1 texts.

  • Elkhart volunteers launch 2nd annual Coat Drive and Feed the Homeless Event

    Elkhart volunteers are trying to collect at least 500 coats for families in need this winter. The coats will be distributed at a family meal at the Historic Roosevelt Center on Dec. 20th at 2:00 PM. 

  • 27th Annual World AIDS Day celebrated today

    Today is World AIDS Day.

    The first World AIDS Day took place in 1988, just four years after HIV was identified.
