  • St. Joseph County announces Winter Weather Amnesty Program

    November 1st is the start of St. Joseph County's Weather Amnesty Program, designed to provide sleeping space to the unsheltered homeless. Those individuals are identified as those living in abandoned buildings, cars, under viaducts and camping in tents.
    4 agencies the Catholic Worker Community/Our Lady of the Road, Center for the Homeless, Life Treatment Centers, and Project WARM/ Hope Ministries will provide sleeping accommodations beyond their regular residential capacities.

  • Fort Wayne man pleads guilty in death of woman, 78

    A 23-year-old Fort Wayne man has pleaded guilty to murder, felony murder and robbery in the beating death of a 78-year-old woman in August.

  • Dunlap man pleads guilty to charges from August 2013 standoff and house fire

    A Dunlap man pled guilty Friday to charges from an August 2013 police standoff and house fire. A press release from the Elkhart County Prosecutor's Office said Richard Doerscher is convicted of domestic battery in the presence of a child, strangulation, animal cruelty and criminal mischief.

  • National gas price average below $3 for the first time since 2010

    For the first time since 2010 the nationwide average gas price has fallen below $3. A press release by GasBuddy said 47 states including Indiana have at least some prices under $3 per gallon.

  • Election Day Preparation

    We're just a weekend and a day away from midterm elections. Polls open Tuesday in Indiana at 6am. But early voting's been going on since the first full week of October. So far, voter turnout is even less than we've seen in the past."A presidential election is nation wide and this is just state wide and county wide," said Supervisor of Absentee Voting in St. Joe County, Cindy Streich.
