    Elkhart County Prosecutor Curtis Hill has called for a grand jury to review the action police took in the September fatal shooting of Joseph Lee. Lee, 32, was fatally shot by members of the Elkhart Police on the night of Sept. 23. At the time of his death, Lee was wanted for his alleged role in a shooting of a teenager in Mishawaka.

    Mark Gates was charged Friday in connection to Wednesday's shooting on Golden Avenue. A news release from the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office said Gates was charged with battery by means of a deadly weapon in the shooting that happened in the 900 block of W. Golden Avenue Wednesday.

    A person with knowledge of the deal says the San Diego Padres have agreed to acquire slugger Justin Upton from the Atlanta Braves. Upton started his professional career in South Bend where he spent the entire 2006 season. The person, speaking on condition of anonymity Friday because the teams had not announced the deal, said the Braves will receive a group of prospects.
