South Bend added new mini-libraries, or "book huts" on the city's northwest side Wednesday. Three of the book huts were unveiled by Councilmen Derek Dieter and Tim Scott in an effort to promote literacy. The little libraries allow readers, young and old, to borrow a book or drop one off. Councilman Dieter says he'd like to eventually have 75 to 100 huts around the city. The huts are located at Portage and Vassar, at Muessel Park and Freemont Park.
