  • Northern Indiana sees higher train vs vehicle crash rates

    The Federal Railroad Administration cites Indiana as one of the top 15 states for crashes involving trains and vehicles. The report also states Elkhart AND Saint Joseph county railroad crashes went up in 20-14. The Federal Railway Administration reports eleven vehicles crashes with trains in Elkhart County last year.

    Leader Publications report Buchanan High School and Niles High School received bronze medals in U.S. News World Report's annual ranking of the nation's schools. This is Niles High's third year getting the bronze. According to Leader Publications, U.S. News World Report's ranking includes more than 20,000 public high schools across the country.

  • Dowagiac woman raising money for Dominican Republic school

    Leader Publications report a Dowagiac woman is raising funds for a school in the Dominican Republic. Sarah Ludwig-Ross is from Dowagiac. Now she's the founder and headmistress of Three Mariposas Montessori in the Dominican Republic. Ludwig-Ross wants to raise $30,000 for student scholarships by the end of May.
