  • One injured in shooting near Saleh's Market in Elkhart

    One man is in the hospital after an early morning shooting near Saleh's Market in Elkhart. Police say it happened around 2:15am on the 300 block of Aspenwald Ave. They say the victim was a 39-year-old man named Deonta Jones. Police say Jones told them he was near the intersection and Middlebury St. and Madison St. when he heard arguing, followed by gunfire.

  • On-site inmate visitation to resume Thursday for Elkhart County Correctional facility

    On-site visitation is set to resume Thursday for the Elkhart County Correctional Facility after the installation of a new video visitation system. A press release by the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department said the facility now offers visitors the option to visit remotely or on-site with an inmate.

  • Police searching for suspect in double shooting in South Bend

    South Bend Police and Metro Homicide report two males were injured in a shooting early this evening on South Bend Avenue. It happened in the 1200 block of South Bend Avenue at the South Bend Avenue Apartments.  That's just south of Notre Dame, near Eddy Street Commons.We're told by police that one of the victims was shot in the head and is in critical condition. The other victim is expected to be released from the hospital.
